Professor Sean Tu Authors Op-Ed in L.A. Times on Drug Patents

This week, West Virginia College of Law professor Sean Tu published an op-ed in the Los Angeles Times with co-authors Michael A. Carrier and Charles Duan. The op-ed, titled "Prevent a legal catch-22 that could push thousands of generic drugs off the market" appeared on September 21, 2022 and follows the filing of an amicus curiae brief by the authors in Teva Pharmaceuticals v. GlaxoSmithKline, No. 22-37. The United States Supreme Court will hear arguments in the case this forthcoming Ocobter 2022 term.

West Virginia University College of Law professor S. Sean Tu recently authored an amicus brief, submitted to the Supreme Court of the United States in Teva Pharmaceuticals v. GlaxoSmithKline, No. 22-37. The brief was co-authored with Michael A. Carrier of Rutgers Law School and Charles Duan of Cornell University.

Professors Tu and Cyphert to Publish New Scholarship on AI and Patent Prosecution in Texas Tech Law Review

West Virginia University College of Law professors Sean Tu and Amy Cyphert co-authored new scholarship to be published in the Texas Tech Law Review. The article, "Limits of Using Artificial Intelligence and GPT-3 in Patent Prosecution", discusses the possible expansion of patent rights as a result of increased use of AI by inventors.

Professor Tu Hosts Workshop on AI and Patents

On June 25, 2021, West Virginia College of Law Professor Sean Tu hosted AI and Patents Workshop @ ICAIL 2021 with co-hosts Dean Alderucci and Jerry Ma. The workshop was offered as part of the program at the 18th International Conference on Artificial Intelligence and Law 2021. Professor Tu moderated the programs offered in track two of the workshop on the subject of patenting AI technology.
