Stimeling and Haught Present at International Writing Center Association Meeting

West Virginia University College of Law professor and Associate Dean for Administration  Jessica Haught and Director of the Writing Center, Melanie Stimeling, recently presented a program at the International Writing Centers Association meeting in Columbus Ohio on Friday, October 18, 2019. The program was titled "Appraising the Value: Discipline-Specific Writing Centers".  Haught and Stimeling discussed the services a discipline-specific writing center offers, the operation of the writing center by a writing professional, and gave advice on how to advocate for a discipline-specific writing center.  

Professor Krech Elected Treasurer of ALWD

On August 1, 2019, Professor David Krech began a three-year term as Treasurer of the Association of Legal Writing Directors. Professor Krech was elected to the position by the ALWD membership in March 2019. As Treasurer, he will serve on the Board of Directors. 

Professor Krech also served the organization as the chair of the Conference Site Committee for ALWD's biennial meeting in Boston, MA from May 29-31, 2019. The conference was hosted by Suffolk University Law School.

Melanie Stimeling Presents at International Writing Center Association Annual Conference

Melanie Stimeling, Director of the Writing Center at West Virginia University College of Law, presented at the International Writing Center Association Annual Conference on Saturday, October 13, 2018.

Professor Stimeling's roundtable discussion was titled "Activating Identities: What Does it Mean to be a Citizen of Disciplinary Writing Centers?" Participants discussed what is means to be an "active citizen" in disciplinary writing centers and how that identity changes, alters, or adapts their work.
