Research Repository Update: January 2024

During January 2024, the contents of the  WVU College of Law community in the Research Repository @ WVU had 16,542 new full-text downloads of the 5,790 total works archived in our collections. Readers came from 1,267 different institutions across 149 different countries and territories. This brings the total full-text downloads of scholarship from the College of Law collections to 638,961.

Law faculty scholarship was downloaded a total of 4,708 times in January 2024. The most downloaded articles from the  faculty scholarship collection last month are:

Professor Sean Tu Publishes New Research Letter in JAMA

West Virginia College of Law professor  S. Sean Tu recently published a new opinion piece in JAMA. The article, titled  "Patents on Risk Evaluation and Mitigation Strategies for Prescription Drugs and Generic Competition," is co-authored by Professor Tu with Ameet Sarpatwari, PhD, Sajeev Kohli, and Aaron S. Kesselheim, MD, JD, MPH, all of the Program on Regulation, Therapeutics, and Law at Brigham and Women’s Hospital.  It was published online by the journal on February 22, 2024.

The article discusses the impact of patents held by manufacturers on risk evaluation and mitigation strategies or "REMS."  REMS may be required by the FDA to mitigate risks associated with certain prescription drugs.  Professor Tu and co-authors discuss the prevalence of REMS patents and their effect on delaying generic competition.

Readers came from 1,106 different institutions across 154 different countries and territories. This brings the total full-text downloads of scholarship from the College of Law collections to 623,332.

WVU Law at the 2024 AALS Annual Meeting

Last week, WVU Law faculty members participated at the 2024 AALS Annual Meeting in Washington, DC. 

On Friday, January 5, Professor Ann M.  Eisenberg participated in a Works-in-Progress session, co-sponsored by the Natural Resources and Energy Law Section, and the Agricultural and Food Law, Animal Law, and Environmental Law Section of AALS.  The workshop gathered scholars in the relevant fields to both give and receive reviews of in-progress scholarship.
