West Virginia College of Law professor  S. Sean Tu recently published new opinion piece in JAMA. The article, titled  "Broad Patent Claims Come Before the Supreme Court in Amgen v Sanofi," is co-authored by Professor Tu with researchers at Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) at Harvard Medical School where Professor Tu is a visiting professor.  It was published online by the journal on March 27, 2023.

The article discusses patent claims raised in Amgen v. Sanofi, a case currently before the Supreme Court. Professor Tu previously contributed to an amicus brief filed in the case: Brief of Intellectual Property Law Professors and Scholars as Amici Curiae in Support of the Respondents.

West Virginia University College of Law professor  Sean Tu recently co-authored a new article in volume 14, issue 1 of  IEEE: Pulse. The article is titled  "Next-Generation Bioprinted Products: Products of Nature or Patentable Innovation?" Professor Tu's co-authors are Jennie O. Zheng and Stephen B. Maebius, both of Foley & Lardner LLP.

West Virginia Unviversity College of Law Professor Sean Tu will receive a research grant from the National Institute of Health Care Management in 2023-2024. NIHCM awards grants to those who initiate work that will "advance evidence on a broad range of factors that contribute to rising health care costs and ongoing health care disparities."

Professor Tu's project is called "Improving Competitive Drug Markets by Reviewing Patents." He will be joined on the project by Aaron S. Kesselheim of Harvard University and Victor van de Wiele of the University of Cambridge.

The article is titled A "Method of Use" to Prevent Generic and Biosimilar Market Entry. Professor Tu co-authored the article with Ameet Sarpatwari, Ph.D., J.D., a colleague at the Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) at Harvard Medical School where Professor Tu is a visiting professor.  It was published online by the journal on January 25, 2023 and will subsequently appear in print in volume 388 on February 9, 2023.

The article, titled  "Recent Patent Reform Bills and Their Implications for Prescription Drugs," is co-authored by Professor Tu with researchers at Program On Regulation, Therapeutics, And Law (PORTAL) at Harvard Medical School where Professor Tu is a visiting professor.  It was published online by the journal on January 13, 2023.

The article discusses three bills expected to be re-introduced in Congress this session with implication for intellectual property law: the Patent Eligibility Restoration Act of 2022 (S. 4734), the Interagency Patent Coordination and Improvement Act of 2022 (S. 4430), and the Patent Examination and Quality Improvement Act of 2022 (S. 4704).
