Professor James Van Nostrand Delivers KeyNote Address at West Virginia Highlands Conservancy Annual Fall Review

West Virginia University College of Law professor James Van Nostrand recently delivered the keynote address at the West Virginia Highlands Conservancy Annual Fall Review. The event took place October 14-16, 2022 at North Bend State Park in Cairo, West Virginia.

The theme of this year's event was "Energy in WV" and program topics covered energy issues across solar, coal, nuclaer, and hydrogen. Professor Van Nostrand's keynote address closed the weekend's programming. His talk was titled The Challenges of Achieving an Energy Transition in West Virginia.

On October 11, 2022, West Virginia University College of Law professor James Van Nostrand was interviewed on the Energy Policy Now Podcast. Professor Van Nostrand was interviewed by host Andy Stone about the coal industry in West Virginia and his recently published book Coal Trap: How West Virginia Was Left Behind in the Clean Energy Revolution.

Energy Policy Now is a podcast affiliated with the Kleinman Center for Energy Policy at the University of Pennsylvania.

Professor Jena Martin Publishes Blog Post at International Social Service USA

West Virginia University College of Law professor Jena Martin recently authored a blog post for International Social Service USA as part of their Cultural Identity Campaign. The blog post, "The Good, the Bad & the Ugly", discusses Professor Martin's research on intercountry adoption and her published article "The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly – A New Way of Looking at the Intercountry Adoption Debate". The article was originally published in 2007 by the U.C. Davis Journal of International Law & Policy.

During September 2022, the contents of the WVU College of Law community in the Research Repository @ WVU had 12,483 new full-text downloads of the 5,701 total works archived in our collections. West Virginia University College of Law professor Anne Marie Lofaso recently published in the ABA's PREVIEW of United States Supreme Court Cases. Professor Lofaso comments on an upcoming employment law case, Helix Energy Solutions Group, Inc. v. Hewitt, Docket No. 21-984, to be heard in the October 2022 term. The article is titled "Is a Highly Compensated Employee with Executive Duties Entitled to orExempt from Overtime Pay Under the Fair Labor Standards Act WhereThat Employee Is Paid at a Daily Rate?". Professor Lofaso's contribution appears in volume 50, issue 1 of the journal, published in September 2022.
