West Virginia University College of Law professor Jena Martin recently posted commentary at The Conversation on Facebook about potential action by the SEC based on public statements by Mark Zuckerberg that contradict the company's internal documents. The issue in controversy is Facebook's enforcement on its policy for offensive material. Zuckerberg's public statements indicate that all Facebook users are on equal footing with regard to application of the policy while internal documents suggest otherwise. Professor Martin offers expert commentary as a scholar and former enforcement attorney with the SEC. The article is titled "Why Facebook's Mark Zuckerberg may be in hot water with the SEC".

West Virginia University Law professor Jena Martin, with co-author Karen Kunz, will be featured at the 2019 American Political Science Association Annual Meeting by publisher Lexington Books. Professor Martin's book, When the Levees Break: Re-visioning Regulation of the Securities Markets, was published in 2016 and recently released in paperback in April 2019.

Lexington Books, an imprint of Rowman & Littlefield, will exhibit the book at the APSA Annual Meeting, August 29-31, 2019 in Washington D.C.

West Virginia University College of Law professor Jena Martin is featured in the latest issue of WVU Magazine. The article, "Holding Back the Flood", discusses the issues raised in Professor Martin's book, When the Levees Break: Re- visioning Regulation of the Securities Markets , co-authored with Karen Kunz. The book proposes solutions to resolve how the laws governing the securities market have fallen behind the technological advances that have changed modern securities trading.

Professor Martin's post appeared on Thursday, May 2, 2019 and is titled "Beyond Disclosure: A New Way of Examining Securities Regulation". In the post, Professor Martin discusses the structure of securities regulation and the need for a model that takes into account all market participants and how they affect the market.
