West Virginia University College of Law professor S. Sean Tu recently published a new Research Letter in JAMA. The article, titled "Five-Year Sales for Newly Marketed Prescription Drugs With and Without Initial Orphan Drug Act Designation," analyzes sales revenue earned in the first 5 years for drugs with and without an initial orphan designation. Professor Tu co-authored with work with Sarosh Nagar; Aaron S. Kesselheim, Zhigang Lu, and Benjamin N. Rome, all of whom are affiliated with Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts, It was published online by the journal on May 9, 2023.
